2023

Puerta Barroca is a project by Cordero Atelier in collaboration with the studio Casa Josephine for the Prado Museum in Madrid.

The spring of 2023 at the Prado Museum is a baroque spring. The exhibitions of Guido Reni and Herrera “el Mozo” inspire this homage that celebrates artifice, grandeur, and the conceptual complexity of that artistic period. Cordero Atelier was responsible for the production, installation design, and graphic identity of the project.

From the Baroque we extract luminous imagery, horror vacui, accumulation, overexposure, and a language taken to the extreme, appealing to the senses and emotions.

We therefore seek spectacle, impact, and emotional intensity.

Arrangements in which we do not pursue a single center but multiple centers, producing elliptical compositions that transform neoclassical columns into Solomonic ones, generating dynamism in the shafts twisted in a helicoidal direction.

We are not interested in repose, but in tension, dynamism, and movement.

A Baroque palette composed of 25,000 stems of preserved hydrangea and 50,000 stems of gold-lacquered Ruscus aculeatus.
